2023 Design Trends
‘Trends’ is such a tricky word… I read somewhere once that good design is 70% timeless and 30% trends, and I’ve always kept that in the back of my mind when creating designs. Whether you are doing a full remodel or making a few cosmetic changes to your home, chances are you’re spending a good chunk of money so it’s important that you’ll like your decisions a few years down the road. But that also doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with it and incorporate things you’ve been eyeing on social media .
After all, interior design trends are a reflection of that moment in time and what we as a society were experiencing. So while you don’t want an entire room to be decorated with the latest tik tok fad, incorporating a few trendy details is fun and relevant.
Ok! Enough preamble - today’s post is all about the visuals. Here are 5 interior design trends we’re sure to be seeing more of in 2023:
1.Textured Stone
Incorporating organic elements has been a huge trend for the past few years and natural, textured stone is this year’s go-to material for adding interest and warmth. And it’s not just fore fireplaces - think outdoor patios, entryways, backsplashes and bathrooms.
2. Arches and Curves
Rounded edges are here to stay. From arched architectural details and doors to curved staircases and furniture, these shapes add a softness to a room that makes us feel cozy and welcome.
3. Fluted Detailing
Expect to see plenty of fluted details not only when furniture shopping (think media consoles, side tables, bar cabinets, etc). but also on the finishes in places like the kitchen, dining rooms and even living rooms. The vertical lines draw our eyes up to make a room look taller and add texture to otherwise flat materials.
4. Vibrant Hues
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know that my design style is mostly neutrals but these fun spaces are making me think I should lean into this trend for 2023 and add some vibrant pops of color…
5. Moody Marble
For years white marble has ruled them all, especially in the kitchen. But this year expect to see more greys, blacks and even colorful greens, purples and reds. It can add the perfect amount of drama and contrast to neutral or colorless spaces.
There you have it! Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year.
xoxo
